Why We Created This Mini-Course (Our Mission as Psychologists)
As psychologists, we see every day how many women believe something is “wrong” with them because photos feel unbearable — and how quickly shame takes over.
We also know this experience personally.
Both of us have had our own complicated relationships with photos, harsh reflex reactions, and moments where a single image could derail an entire day.
So when we say we understand this experience, we mean it as professionals and as women living in this image-obsessed world.
In our clinical work, we consistently see that:
- harsh reactions to photos are a learned survival response
- shame is shaped by culture, trauma, and comparison — not personal failure
- the nervous system interprets photos as threats, even when you “know better”
- with the right tools, people can shift from self-critique into safety
We created this mini-course because we wanted to offer something accessible, evidence-based, and emotionally safe — without toxic positivity or unrealistic promises.
This isn’t about suddenly loving photos or forcing confidence.
It’s about reducing shame, increasing safety, and helping you breathe again when you see an image of yourself.
